Metamorphic petrology and tectonics. Phase equilibria and the thermodynamics of rock forming processes. Petrology of Granites. Geology and petrology of volcanic arcs.  Petrology of ultramafic rocks. Formation of amphibole asbestos in the Sierra Nevada.  Relationship of metamorphism to the tectonics of mountain belts.  Petrology of eclogite.
